Marvel Studios has cast some major stars for its upcoming Fantastic Four film, the superhero group's first appearance in the lucrative Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Pedro Pascal, best known as the star of HBO's The Last of Us, will play Mr. Fantastic aka Reed Richards. British actress Vanessa Kirby, who expressed interest in the role previously, has been cast as Invisible Woman Sue Storm.

Joseph Quinn, who became hugely popular from his role as Eddie Munson in Stranger Things Season 4, has been tapped for the Human Torch Johnny Storm. And indie actor Ebon Moss-Bachrach, fresh off an Emmy win for The Bear, will play The Thing Ben Grimm. Other details are still scarce on the 2025 film, to be directed by Matt Shakman of WandaVision fame.
Marvel has swapped the release dates of Fantastic Four and Thunderbolts, with the former now dated for July 25, 2025. The casting indicates Marvel is positioning the iconic superteam as new anchors of the MCU following the conclusion of the Infinity Saga. Fox previously owned the Fantastic Four rights, releasing two poorly received films in 2005 and 2007 as well as an infamous 2015 reboot.
